The Personal Story Behind Best Allergy Sites Part 1

I often get asked why I started Best Allergy Sites–what my positions and views are on food allergies.

I sometimes find it hard to find a balance between being a mom of a child with multiple life threatening food allergies–an allergy advocate so to speak–and a professional running Best Allergy Sites as a resource for allergy sufferers. The Best Allergy Site blog was added to the directory as a way to get information to our readers regarding the latest in allergy research and news, food recalls, and general goings on in the allergy community. There are so many fantastic food allergy blogs that I felt it unnecessary to throw my own story, my opinion into the mix.

Blogs are typically just that; they are one persons thoughts and opinions. If you know me personally, you know I often have very strong ones. Perhaps that is why I’ve held back. My mission and goal for Best Allergy Sites has always been to offer a resource to allergy sufferers that just wasn’t there when I started my allergy journey. But boy I wish it was. It would have saved me a lot of headaches, heartaches, and time.

Since you’ve asked, and since after all this is my site (my baby) I’ve decided to become a little more loose lipped. How I choose to manage allergies in my family; my thoughts and opinions-are certainly no reflection on my thoughts, opinions, or feelings on how YOU choose to live your life and manage your allergies. We all have our own issues and our own comfort zones. But if my story, my journey, this site-can help just one other person-then it is completely worth it.

So from now on the BAS Blog will continue to bring you the latest in allergy research and news; but it will also bring you a bit more of me, my story, my thoughts and opinions. I hope it will also bring the stories, thoughts, and opinions of you-our readers.
