Vote for Best Allergy Sites and Promote Allergy Awareness
Best Allergy Sites a contestant in StartupNation “Leading Moms in Business Competition”

Boston, MA, March 15, 2009 –Best Allergy Sites is the web’s largest directory of general allergy and food allergy web sites and blogs; and a new contestant in the “Leading Moms in Business Competition”. See details at

Life threatening food allergies are on the rise. One in every 17 children under the age of 3 has a food allergy. It is estimated that 150 people die annually from anaphylaxis to food. The mission of Best Allergy Sites is to bring allergy sufferers and their friends and family; the support, education, and advice they need to manage and live with allergies.

“When I first heard of the “Leading Moms in Business Competition” I was thrilled to enter. I saw this as an opportunity to further promote allergy awareness,” said Founder Ruth Smith. “Not many people are aware of the rise in food allergies or the difficulty in living with and managing them-especially in young children. The competition is a great platform to get the word out.”

In partnership with “Ladies Who Launch”, “StartUpNation” is running the competition to find the best mom run businesses in the US by popular vote. That’s right-the public gets to vote, and once a day.

“I’m not sure we’re really in the running to win,” Smith said. “We just entered and the competition has been running since January. Voting ends March 31st. Of course we’d be honored to win, but as I said; if it gets the word out regarding food allergies and the resources and support that are available, I’m happy with that.”
