Best Allergy Sites FAQ

What is Best Allergy Sites?
Best Allergy Sites is an informational directory of the BEST allergy/food allergy and intolerance  friendly companies, products, blogs and web sites.

Our mission is to be the first and only resource allergy and intolerance sufferers need for information and support. We serve both as an allergy hub and portal into the allergy and intolerance community.

There are other sites claiming to be allergy directories, what makes Best Allergy Sites unique?
At Best Allergy Sites we believe there are many things that make us unique.

Founder
Best Allergy Sites was founded by Ruth LovettSmith; an allergy sufferer, allergy advocate, mom to a food allergic child, and volunteer support group team leader with the Asthma Allergy Foundation of America. In short, Best Allergy Sites was founded by someone who is involved in and sincerely cares about the allergy community.

First of its Kind
To our knowledge, Best Allergy Sites was the first site of its kind to bring allergy and intolerance sites, companies, businesses, and blogs into one informational directory.

It’s Free
Best Allergy Sites is a free directory. Free for users and free for businesses wishing to list. Some businesses choose to support the site by paying a small Site Supporter fee for extra site benefits, but that is completely optional.

Directory Listings
All Best Allergy Sites directory listings are screened and entered by hand by a person within Best Allergy Sites. No software, no robots.

It is the goal of Best Allergy Sites to list only the companies, businesses, and products that are supportive and safe for the allergy community. This usually means foods manufactured in a dedicated facility or with proven (by allergen testing) cleaning practices in place. (Click on Allergen Free Foods for an article regarding manufacturing practices for allergen free foods.)

Some allergy directories list any and all businesses that “claim” to be allergy friendly leaving the consumer to sort through the list. Since there is currently no legal definition of what allergy friendly or peanut free is; this list can be quite long and unsafe.

The focus of Best Allergy Sites is on companies that truly understand allergies, what the allergic consumer needs, and caters to the allergy community; not just any food product that doesn’t have an allergen in its ingredient list.

Best Allergy Sites makes every effort to keep on top of companies listed within the directory, but please keep in mind that manufacturing processes do change. You should always check a product and company out before consuming.

Is Best Allergy Sites a non profit?
Best Allergy Sites is currently not a registered non profit company. Since Best Allergy Sites does not charge any fees, we rely on the generosity of our Site Supporters and advertisers to keep the site up and running .

What are the benefits of Best Allergy Sites?
